WHELTON architecture is an innovative architectural design practice based in Portland, Oregon. Current projects range from small-scale, highly detailed residential additions to larger design investigations that move across the scales of architecture, landscape, infrastructure and urban design. WHELTONarchitecture frequently collaborates across disciplines in competitions that provide unique opportunities for research, design and exchange. The most recent collaboration with team másTransit won the professional category of the Innovative Infrastructures competition earlier this year. WHELTONarchitecture was established in 2005 - originally as AAW Studio - by Aaron Whelton.
Aaron Whelton is a registered architect in Oregon and a LEED accredited professional. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at Portland State University and previously taught at Woodbury University in Burbank, California. Prior to founding WHELTONarchitecture, Aaron worked on numerous award-winning projects in the offices of Daly Genik and the Office of Hadley + Peter Arnold in Los Angeles as well as Thomas Phifer and Partners in New York City. He holds a Master of Architecture from University of California, Los Angeles and a Bachelor or Architecture from the University of Kentucky.
